This sculpture collection is meticulously handcrafted by Big Sky Carvers artists based on founder Marc Pierce's own life experiences. Each piece comes with a copy of the story written by Marc, from which it was inspired:

"I have always loved songbirds. My Dad is the rugged, outdoorsman-type, but he's always had a soft spot for songbirds and I was led by example to the same fascination. Everywhere I've ever lived or had extended stays I've put out multiple feeders and waited to see what species of birds they attracted, like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. And everywhere I've ever traveled in the world, from the crowded streets of Hong Kong to the most remote regions of the Amazon, I notice birds. I have dozens of bird books and a "life-list" journal noting where and when I spotted the first of each species observed. Given all the fascinating birds I've seen in my travels, the venerable Black-Capped Chickadee is still one my very favorites. Maybe because they're one of the first birds I watched at our backyard feeder as a kid in Illinois, or because I still watch them every day out of our kitchen window in Montana. I watch them mostly in and around the pines now, so we wanted to portray this one like we might have seen this morning in our Big Sky neighborhood."
